Information Processing Theory of Robert Gagne

The assumption underlying this theory is that learning is a very important factor in the development. The development is a cumulative result of learning. According to Gagne that learning occurs in the process of receiving information, and then processed to produce output in the form of learning. Information processing occurs in the interaction between internal conditions and external conditions of the individual. The internal conditions within the individual circumstances necessary to achieve learning and cognitive processes that occur in individuals. While external conditions are stimuli from the environment that affect the individual in the learning process.

According to Gagne stage learning process which includes eight phases,

(1) motivation;

(2) understanding,

(3) acquisition;

(4) storage;

(5) memory back;

(6) generalization;

(7) treatment and

(8) feedback behind.
